Introducing the Limited-Edition Gamefish Series
The Limited-Edition Gamefish Series of inshore fishing rods, produced in partnership with North Carolina’s Cape Fear Distillery and internationally-renowned marine artist Steve Goione, marks the first release in the Star Rods new American Spirit Series line.
Inspired by Cape Fear Distillery’s award-winning, charcoal-filtered, small-batch “Gamefish” vodka, the Gamefish Series is built in the USA on a 7-foot, CR6r Carbon Fiber & High Tg Epoxy blank featuring Advanced Interface Bonding to provide maximum strength with proprietary weight reduction engineering that offers fisherman incredible sensitivity and responsiveness for targeting redfish, snook, trout and stripers. Like all Star Rods, the Gamefish Series superior characteristics do not stop at the blank, the blank is finished with the most premium components to further enhance the fishing experience. This series features Fuji® K-Frame with Alconite Insert guides and a Fuji® VSS reel seat that fits seamlessly into the CG1 high-grade cork wrapped foregrip that ergonomically and effortlessly conforms to the hand for the utmost sensitivity and is complemented with a cork composite butt that is durable to withstand any environment. The Gamefish Series rods are available in 6–14lb, 8–17lb and 10–20lb actions.
The Gamefish Series will be a limited production, with just 500 rods individually numbered in the initial run. Upon registration of your rod, you will receive a Certificate of Authenticity featuring the Gamefish artwork signed by the artist and master rod designer.

Fishing, drinking and great partners—it’s a match made in heaven (or close to it). We are proud to announce the first in a unique series of fishing rods inspired by some of the finest craft distillers and brewers in America. We begin with Cape Fear Distillery’s Gamefish Vodka to launch an inshore saltwater rod that is proudly made in the USA. The first 500 will be signed and numbered and come with a limited edition print by marine wildlife artist Steve Goione. And of course, each one will also feature the same top-shelf components and rigorous attention to detail and quality that define Star Rods. Around these parts, that’s what we call, RAISING THE BAR.
It takes the eye of a fisherman to capture the essence of our sport; that’s why Star Rods commissioned Steve Goione to create “Coastal All-Stars”, an illustration to celebrate the best of inshore fishing. For 30 plus years, Steve has done nothing but eat, sleep, and breath fishing. His heart not only lies on the edge where great gamefish roam, but also the inshore grounds where Red Drum, Speckled Trout, Snook, and Striped Bass play.
A boutique resort in the heart of the Cape Fear region of southeastern North Carolina, Cape Fear Distillery has won numerous national and international awards for taste and design. For GameFish Vodka®, the distillery partnered with international marine wildlife artist, Steve Goione, to design the spirit’s beautiful label. The new Star Rods Cape Fear Gamefish Vodka rod proudly flies the ‘Made in the USA’ banner. With the creation of the Gamefish rod, we have developed a new relationship to feature USA-made blanks. While we continue with our time-tested and trusted relationship with Fuji® premium components, our build process, assembly & finishing starts and ends right here in the USA.
